Work station, clay pots and soap dishes. Greenware

My clay working time is now limited to 2 afternoons a week (and anything I can fit in over the weekend)
My extra day in school has meant that I have to be more efficient with my time now and will probably mean a decline in how much work I can produce for my shops, so I have set all my larger items as "made to order" which I get on with over the course of the week and try to make a few new little things while I have the clay out on the bench.

I have had orders for my bird feeders and whilst waiting for them to dry a bit and work on again I have made these porky little planters.
These ones have an oval opening at the top with an overall oval shape to them and
the ones below are rounded with a rounded opening.

I love making these, they are perfect hand sized and it is good to be free with the clay and stamp
it with hessian, and my other tools. The grit you see on the sides is called "grog" which is ground
fired ceramic grit which will fire into the clay giving it a course texture. I like it.

I made this one last year. It has multiple layers of glaze and
oxide and has had a few firings.

Soap dishes ready for bisque firing.

These ones came from the last long Glaze firing.

New Items in my shops

The latest things to appear in Little Brick House Ceramics on Noths are...
Stoneware Bird feeders in two sizes

These plant markers are NEW.
They are made from terracotta clay so they match great with existing terracotta  garden pots and containers and they are included with a white pencil which shows up so much better on this colour than lead.

I have just made more of these as they have been really popular on Noths these ones however have different colours in them even though the same glaze was used. So I had to re-photograph them. Grrr.

Also a new item using a potted Topiary stamp, in line with my garden themes and  can also be written on  the reverse side.
Sold in packs on five threaded with paper sting.

I love this not sure I want to part with it. This planter has been through the kiln loads! Originally the glaze was just a light honey and I wanted to deepen the coulour, so I added the turquoise onto it and fired again. The turquoise was too matt so I put it through again with more oxide washes and a Lucie Rea Green glaze which was made from one of her recipes.
I like it too much now.

Just a quick reminder that I will be attending Clutter City at the arts centre on st. Benedict's street. Norwich. this Saturday (23rd June) and will be exhibiting some of my work.
So if you like all things quirky, unusual, vintage and handmade why not take a look.
It has a lovely atmosphere, good food, and live music. Well worth a visit for those things alone.
Hope to see some of you there. Please come and say hello.

Current Projects.... Building up ''

January isn't usually a month I tend to work with clay. After busy Decembers it tends to be quiet and time to re-charge and start thinking about new projects and what I would like to achieve in the current year. This year though and since joining Not on the High Street I haven't had that luxury and I have needed to keep making to keep my work replenishing after sales so the shop doesn't look sparse. Although January is a quiet month , a trickle of sales keep coming so I have been making ready to do the next firing.
Here is some of what I have been doing.
Clay plant markers with a new top design.

Soap dishes the reverse side has four little feet and a veined imprint on the lower side.

These little bowls are made for Valentines gifts and should be ready soon.
They are made from porcelain clay hence the heap of broken ones that didn't make
the refining stage.

Some more terracotta bird feeders.
