Twiggle Shoes follow up firing results

A few blogs away I showed you some photos of some Twiggle shoes I had been making for Bewilderwood, as part of their park props (to go outside the tree houses)
After a few firing problems I decided to fire the little kiln and retreived these this morning.

Featured!

About 6 months ago I was contacted by
"Gardens Illustrated "magazine which is a lovely glossy garden and landscaping magazine about my Ceramic garden markers being featured with them. I thanked them for the free exposure but wasnt able to find anything online where my work was with them. After forgetting about it I received the said magazine through the post and was delighted to find my work featured alongside some gorgeous ceramic work seen also on the same page. (see photos below)
All British Artists and Designers so I thought I would give it a bit exposure here on my little blog.

Ceramic Twiggle Shoes

I Love this place!
It just so happens that I have a friend that joined this great place when it opened its doors quite a few years ago. She has now become the organiser of storytelling and runs a team of twiggles and boggles (Woodland and bogland creatures to the rest of us) and is an all round person of great ideas and creative and imaginative projects throughout the park.
I promised to make these little twiggle shoes for Bewilderwood a few months ago, so I finally set about making a pair. They are just the first pair, but I think each pair should be a little bit different, fitting for each character. The idea is to set them outside the twiggle houses you can see in the bottom photograph, and to hang them onto the trees where the twiggle socks are hung.

I have rolled some of the clay onto some heavy weave fabric so they still have a fabric appearance once they have been fired. Cut out the soles and added the sides and added shape to the heal and have given them a little pointed toe.

Props to go!!

Scouting for boys toys isnt hard around my house. They are everywhere so there was no shortage in finding little props to go in the photos of my personalised cloud plaques.
After photographing Yoda, Darth vader, Frodo Baggins, numerous trucks and favourite books I settled for these....

New ceramics for Summer 2013. Peg it & Decorate

Ive been meaning to show these on my blog for ages.
It takes about 6 months for a new idea to materialise into something that I can finally show or take photographs of.
These little wooden pegs have a magnetic strip on the reverse so they can be used on fridges to pin up cards, messages or whatever.
Covered in decorative paper with a little porcelain disc attached onto the top.

Easy Peasy!!
